The writing problem
How do you make someone stop scrolling and enter a story?
Pocket FM needed to attract new listeners and encourage more people to download the app. Each promo had to establish the emotional stakes quickly, hold attention and leave the audience with a strong reason to find out what happened next.
- 01Attract new listeners
- 02Generate interest in the audio series
- 03Encourage app installations
- 04Turn a brief ad interaction into curiosity about the wider story
The thinking
Find the moment they cannot leave unanswered.
I built the promos around one sharp emotional turn: a confrontation, betrayal, revelation or unanswered question. The script created the hook and tension, while the supporting story description gave enough context to draw the viewer further into the series.
Finding the most emotionally charged moment
Introducing conflict quickly
Using dialogue to create immediacy
Preserving enough context for the scene to make sense
Ending before the central question was answered
Making the viewer want to hear the next part
Scope & Result
Promotional scripts built to turn story tension into efficient app installs.
I created short- and long-form promotional scripts and story-led descriptions for Pocket FM campaigns. Some promos achieved a CPI below 10, helping bring more listeners into the app efficiently.

A short reflection
The strongest promos do not explain the whole story. They find the moment where the audience becomes emotionally involved, then stop just before the answer.
